Welcome Danielle!

Danielle Kyla DeRemer was born today at 12:23 pm. Weighing in at 8 lbs, 11 oz, and 20 1/2 inches.

Details: Krissy went into more serious labor that rapidly became very painful yesterday at 2:30 pm. Krissy had what they call a "back birth", meaning that the pain centers in your back, and hurts so bad you feel like you are going to die. They are apparently much worse. Went to the hospital around 5pm, but weren't formally admitted until 630'ish as she was on the cusp, though the pain at that point was unbearable. Krissy had to wait until 8 for pain medicine, and when that did little good she got an epidural around midnight.

Since midnight the experience has been much better. At 6am dilation was speeding way up. Krissy did great and the staff all told me Krissy is one of the "best pushers" they've ever seen (I hope they don't say that to everybody??).

One scare was that apparently Krissy's water broke some time ago. Nobody knows when, not even Krissy or the doctors!! In fact at first they thought the baby head was the water and poked it to break the water... so baby has a couple small cuts on her head from this. They look more like cat scratches, nothing to worry about. Had the doctors know her water was broken they would have induced a while ago. Anyhow baby had muconium (sp?) in her lungs that the staff seemed to be freaking out about for about 15 minutes, but Danielle slowly started to breathe normally and eventually cry. It was really scary for a short time as doctors were running everywhere and we can't tell if this is all normal or if something is really wrong.

Poor Krissy had to wait 2 hours after birth to see baby as she was whisked away and all sorts of sensors were hooked up.

Good news though, baby appears to be healthy, and baby was delivered without inducement. I had some pictures but I think the camera cable is at the hospital so I can't download them yet. Look for the pix sometime this weekend.

Thank you all for your support. It has been appreciated by us both.
Cheers!
-Grant
